Greenup First UMC Sonsosrs Parade in Greenup in mist of COVID-19 Pandemic
The Greenup First United Methodist sponsored a parade on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at noon. Approximately a dozen cars participated by decorating their cars with uplifting and inspiring messages for everyone to take heart during these trying times of COVID-19. The parade wind through Greenup honking their automobile horns. Many people emerged from their homes to see what all of the commotion was about. Many of the people waved as they were inspired by the message the church was sending. Several people even responded by posting comments on the Church FaceBook page how the church's efforts lifted their spirits.
Parade organizer, Amy Dowdy, said that, "the church is not a building, and our mission continues in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic." Several of the messages gave short Biblical verses in addition to words of encouragement such as "This too shall pass" and "We will endure."
Cars line up preparing for the parade.
